Thank You Rotary Club of Southeast

For our (new) Honda SUV and so much more!

Thank You, Rotarians!

This week we wanted to give a special thanks to the Rotary Club of Southeast for their ongoing support of Second Chance Foods – and – for donating this new (to us) vehicle for moving more meals and fresh groceries.

One of the most challenging parts of hunger relief is there are always more people in need despite so much healthy available food going to waste. This ongoing demand for services means we are steadily working to grow the volume of food we can process to reach more people. This replacement vehicle makes it possible for us to nourish more of our neighbors in need of food assistance- just look how much food it can hold. Thank You Rotarians for joining us in food justice!

"We only have 21 members, and when I look at the listing of what we've accomplished since forming, I'm amazed!"
- Rich, proud treasurer of both Rotary Club of Southeast and Second Chance Foods (and the best pot scrubber we have - see below)

Second Chance Food and the Rotary of Southeast

The Rotary of Southeast (ROSE) is a newer charter but has been doing incredible work since its start in 2018. They have been a champion of Second Chance Foods and our mission for years. Rotarians volunteer with us by cooking delicious meals, washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, and transporting items. They’re also how we

But that’s not all! They also are financial supporters who helped us expand our kitchen operations, donated our mobile cooler in 2019, and now supplied our second vehicle for food rescue. We are so grateful for their help over the years and would not be able to connect food to hungry people without them.

Rotary Club of Southeast

Rotary International is one of the best-kept secrets, with 1.4M members in 46,000 clubs worldwide. They support local students and provide scholarships along with RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), CV Starr Art Box Project, Vassar Haiti Project, and the Shelter Box USA. In addition, the ROSE is passionate about addressing food and housing insecurity and, along with Second Chance Foods, supports Putnam Community Action Partnership, Brewster Cares, and the Dorothy Day Shelter. Not to mention they support numerous neighboring organizations, including Putnam Chorale, Vet to Vet, MADD, Green Chimneys School, Little League Scholarship, Local Animal Welfare Groups, and Mental Health Association in Putnam County.

Though we wish we could nourish everyone in need, Second Chance Foods does not directly distribute meals or groceries to individuals at this time. We utilize existing programs in the community and supplement their food with our meals and groceries.
